TAKE ACTION NOW: IT ONLY TAKES A MINUTE TO LET LEGISLATORS KNOW YOU SUPPORT A THOROUGH REVIEW OF THE TEXAS MEDICAID PROVIDER PROCEDURES MANUAL
TAPD has been asking the Health & Human Services Commission (HHSC) to do a thorough review of dental policies in the Texas Medicaid Provider Procedures Manual for over a year. Now is your time to help us require HHSC to do it! Senate Bill 1, the state’s budget, includes a rider which will require the Health & Human Services Commission to review all clinical dental services with input from managed care organizations, dentists who see Medicaid patients, and academia, among other stakeholders. As practitioners, we know that the Texas Medicaid Provider Procedures Manual is confusing and difficult for us to work with. A thorough review will help update and remove policies that are no longer necessary or that are out of date with current standards of care. It will also prioritize preventative care and help move away from practices that are not in the best interest of our Medicaid patients. Please urge the Texas House and Senate to require this review!
